The Fusion ioMemory SX300 starts the test regimen with a much more scattered performance profile during the 4K preconditioning phase than the competing SSDs, and this carries over to its heavy-load performance at 256 OIO. The SX300 has a scattered performance profile that reaches down to the 24,000 IOPS range regularly, which is by far the most inconsistent performance of the test pool, and its average performance also falls into last place.
The SX300 performs better under light loads, in spite of some variABIlity at 32 OIO. The latency-over-IOPS chart indicates that its average latency falls into the middle under light loads, but slips into last place as workload intensity increases. The QoS over IOPS chart also paints a clear view of the impact of the significant performance variability during the test, and in tandem with the standard deviation metrics we note much more inconsistency in comparison to the other entrants.
The Fusion ioMemory SX300 requires more power than the other entrants during the test window, but there are several caveats to our power tests, which are mentioned at the top of the page. The SX300 card itself consumes roughly 5W more power than the other SSDs in the test pool, and its lower performance results in the lowest 4K random write efficiency metrics.
Description:
Sandisk Fusion ioMemory 1.6TB SX300 PCI-e SSD SX300-1600
Features:
It is important to note that we adjusted the power threshold on the SX300 to 40W to increase its performance. The true power consumption of the ioMemory as an entire product is hard to quantify; it also leverages host CPU and DRAM resources that also consume power. The SX350 board itselfconsumes less power due to its updated NAND, but the SSD features the same host requirements that inflate the visible power consumption of the board. Readers are cautioned that our power consumption testing only measures power at the slot, and does not quantify the other extraneous power consumption inherent to the VSL architecture.
